Check out the progress!

Check out the progress! The weapons are almost done, just need the altfire for the woodoo doll and the tesla gun. And the damage to the pitchfork. Any ideas and comments are welcome. The controls haven't changed, arrow keys, shift and ctrl. Have fun!

Going pretty well

The progress is going pretty well. I decided I add the alternative fire mode. In the real Blood the altfire is a bit different in the Cryptic Passage add-on version. The napalm launcher has some alternative shots and the lifeleech staff. I will use the original altfire modes.

 Most of the projectiles are done. Caleb is able to shoot his flare gun, shotgun and tommy-gun. The hitTest with the walls or enemies are quite okay. I'm working on the projectiles and after that I continue with the enemies. First will be the priests and the zombies. The pitchfork and lifeleech graphical issue is fixed now.

Weapons done, story going

 All the weapons are drawn and the animations are added to Caleb. You can switch between all the weapons at this preview. The Lifeleech and pickaxe are not perfect, I will fix it soon. Switch weapon with numbers 0-9. Shift key is the fire button. There's no alternate fire mode :( The controls will be changed in the final game and you might can customize.


 The story will take place between Blood and Blood 2 - The Chosen, close to Blood 2. I still need events, places, ideas to add. Please comment if you have any.

Story in progress

 I got some nasty, funny, cool ideas to the story of Flesh Game. I need a boss name. I want to make 4 episodes, at the end of each episodes, there will be a boss. So I need 4 boss names and a look for them. And I also need a name and a look for the final boss. He looks like a human, like Gideon.

 So. I need 4 little boss and 1 big boss (not Metal Gear :) ) look and name. Ideas are welcome! And still I need ideas to scenes, places where Caleb can fight through his will.

Working on engine

Hello everyone!

I'm on the right way, I feel it. Hamish Wilson told me that I should draw the game myself instead of using the sprites of the game. Anyway, I don't like using raster in flash. I'm done with Caleb, now I'm working on the basic engine, the walk-jump-shoot stuff. I'd like to make indoor scenes, such as entering a storage through door or blast through way into a wall. When Caleb is indoors the wall fades out.

Caleb will have the basic weapons from Blood:
-pitchfork
-flare gun
-sawed off shotgun
-thompson gun
-dynamite (the normal and proximity versions only)
-napalm cannon
-woo-doo doll

Caleb might have:
-some electric weapon
-spray with lighter (flame gun)

If you have any favorite weapon that you like I might add it into the game.

Don't forget, I still need ideas with the story!

Story help

All right guy. I'm getting close to the point where I have to think about the story. The story of Blood and Blood 2 is known. It's a fight against Tchernobog and his worshipers. Caleb's love is Ophelia, there's Ishmael and Gabriella. I don't really want to deal with the Chosens. But if you have any good idea of a story or just parts, please leave a comment and let me know. The game should take place at various places, such as dark forest, cemetery, hospital, running train, cult church, old town, etc... Please help me with ideas!

ART files and gfx

Yesterday I did some digging in the ART files. Since the ART editors for Blood didn't work under WinXP I used DOSBOX. It worked perfectly. You have to unpack the editing tools that are given on your Blood CD to the Blood folder. Mount the Blood folder to DOSBOX (eg: "mount d c:\Games\Blood"). Then run the ARTEDIT or EDITART. I think I used ARTEDIT. It gives you the thumbnails of the textures. Press ENTER to view in full size, press ESC to go back. I did some shots of Caleb, items and monsters. I decided that Caleb will have long black hair. In the game you can't see hair neither in Blood not in Blood 2.
 I was thinking about how to make the game. Should I use the sprites from the game or should I draw it in flash? I don't know.

Sounds

All right. Sounds are ready to use. It is very difficult to get the sounds of Blood. From Blood 2 it's enough to have WinRez. It can extract every data from games using LithTech engine. In case of Blood it's more difficult. First, get GFE (Game File Explorer). Extract all the RAW files. I found the SFX files useless. Then get a sound editor (I used SoundForge) that can open RAW files. You have to set the Sample Type (it's 8bit or 16bit) and the bit rate (it was 11025). Then I re-saved the files as WAV files. There's no header to RAW files, that's why you have to set these manually. This cause a glitch at the beginning of mostly every sound files. I did all this and sorted out the files (level, monsters, weapons, caleb, announcer, etc). If I need a sound in the flash game I still have to remove the glitch. I didn't do this because there were more than 400 sound files in the archive. I hope I can help anyone with this review of extracting sounds from Blood or Blood 2.

In addition: the sfx files might have a purpose to be of help when opening files, I don't really know...

Introduction

Hello everyone. I'm starting this stupid blog just to make you informed. I hope the development will go well and this blog will have it's purpose.
So, this is gonna be about a flash game about Blood. You can see the first on Newgrounds.com. You can read an article about it on Blood Wiki. I started to make this because they showed me how people can love a game (not mine but the real Blood, of course... ). Any ideas, comments are welcome. I hope to add a sample of what it's gonna look like soon.
